Ad in India Today

Many years ago when I was in school, my dad used to buy India Today magazines which came out monthly and I would go through them whenever I was denied “TV rights”. These magazines usually have full page ads in between the articles and I would disregard them and wonder why companies paid so much for publishing such mundane ads that no one reads. That is until that fateful day…..

I had a holiday due to Independence Day and there was no electricity. My eyes fell on that month’s issue and I opened the cover page and there it was on the left hand side…The ad that I have added in this blog (Image Below) which turned my head twice….

In all those years till then I had seen the same name Ramzan and Diwali probably 100 times and more, why is it that I never noticed the subtle hidden message in it? I thought about this probably for a few minutes and forgot; even I didn’t know the effect it had left on me then…..

Many years later, when I shifted to Hyd for my work I faced a different environment there from Blore. Everyone told me that Hyd is a volatile area for Hindu Muslim community and told me to be careful when dealing with Muslims. But each time I faced a close encounter with “them”, this above image would flash in my mind and I would change my course of action and decide that a person should be judged only by their character and not by their religion.

After many such instances I am happy to say am thankful that I saw that Ad and now I learnt the power of a simple Ad.

  1. I think this whole Hindu-Muslim thing is sometimes blown out of proportion too! many times in fact. I have met some of the warmest people whom i am not friends with from the muslim community! and it's all based of prejudices and individual opinions and some personal bad experience that perhaps people tag them to the dangerous. There are scum in both cultures, no denying that fact! the onus is on you to choose whether you deal with scum or deal with the cream
